Friday: Mostar
Our departure from Sarajevo was not entirely without a hitch this morning as we had a flat battery on the car..........it appears that we may have left an interior light on while it was in the garage over the last few days. Anyway, with the help of two burly doormen and a push start we were soon on our way.
From Sarajevo, we drove to Mostar. This is a recreation of the ancient bridge that was destroyed in the Homeland War. It does beg the question as to what could possibly have been gained by destroying the original bridge? And sadly, the recreated version looks like it has been made out of breeze block.
From Mostar, we re-entered Croatia, including a very interesting drive through the Neum corridor, a small tongue of land that has provided Bosnia and Hercegovina with access to the sea, and basically constitutes a short bit of coastline where you have to pass back through Bosnian territory.
Anyway, we are now spending the night in Ston, famous for its salt plains, mussels, and being the home of the European Wall of China!
P.S. A seriously late edit but I should have mentioned how beautiful the drive from Sarajevo to Mostar was!
