Sky Ride York

Today Dad and I went into York to take part in the Sky Ride around York, where the streets are closed off to allow cyclists a traffic free route around the city. We made our way from the railway station and joined the course near Lendal Bridge, and we cycled over the river and past York Minster, with a quick photostop where we photo-bombed a load of tourists pictures, and then on to Cliffords Tower where we registered for the ride. We then set off down along the side of the river to the Millennium Bridge, and then back along through Rowntree Park, and along Skeldergate back to Lendal Bridge.

There were loads of cyclists and lots of families out enjoying the traffic free route. Unfortunately there were some bottlenecks on the route which held people up, and with the number of people cycling in close proximity you always had to be on your wits.

We did several laps before stopping for lunch in Rowntree Park. We did a couple more laps after lunch before this photo stop outside the main doors of York Minster (cleverly photoshopped from 2 pictures) before we headed for home to watch the final stage of the Tour of Britain.

Back home tomorrow after a wonderful weeks holiday visiting my parents and the Yorkshire Dales.

Hopefully I'll have more time to comment on peoples journals in the next day or so.
