Abstract
A home day, batch cooking so that I don't have to do any after work.
An early evening walk around the lake at Trentham. We heard and saw a kingfisher. It wasn't a bird call that we were familiar with, so it was worth waiting to see what it was. It kept flying along the side of the lake just before we reached it. The swan family are still with us. Those youngsters are really large now but still have very grey/brown feathers. May be not ready to go just yet.
We also saw crayfish in the River Trent under the bridge which connects the entrance to the gardens. Sadly I've identified them as Signal Crayfish, an invasive species, and not out native White Clawed Crayfish.
