Not a Proper Sort of Gardener

I am not "a proper sort of gardener" (of the Mr Harding kind), but I try my best to be. It's very easy with children. Easy with other people you like. Much harder with people you don't like, which is where you really need to do it.
Recently, I let drop a casual mention that my two orchids had died. I thought no more about it.
Some time later, two people who are very special to me gave me two beautiful new orchids. This was so unexpected that it literally took my breath away.
Those people are the proper sort of gardener. Really. You know who you are. Thank you.
