Hooray for Hollywood!

So today was the last day of our great adventure; it's been fantastic!

We are both totally knackered; 2 weeks of 5.45am wake up calls will do that to anyone, we are going home for a rest!

We drove from Pismo beach this morning to Santa Maria, where we visited the Mission. We only visited the toilets as churches aren't our thing. What surprised me was that for a Christian place, they weren't very trusting; the toilet rolls were padlocked on the holders!!!!!!!!

From there we went to Santa Barbara, that was a nice place with some beautiful homes on the seafront.

We drove into Hollywood just after lunch and had a walk down the Walk of Fame, (I'm standing on David Bowie), I only really wanted to see Marilyn Monroe's hand prints. Her feet were tiny (you can just make the footprint out).

We drove through Beverly Hills and Sunset boulevard, but we had seen this independently on our first night in the city.

Next up was Santa Monica, we had 2 hours there to wander round. It felt more like a holiday this afternoon as we had time to soak up the sun on the beach (thank goodness for my factor 50!).

Quite unexpectedly, we came across a sign on the pier that marked the official end of Route 66. That's twice on this tour that it's popped up....I think it's a sign we should do that for our next trip ;-)
The sign was placed on the pier to mark where the road used to be, but we found out that there was an older commemorative plaque a couple of blocks down so Mr A preferred to see that.

Back on the bus, and our final drive was through Venice Beach & past Marina Del Rey.

So, we are back to where we started 2 weeks ago, but it's not quite over for us yet as we don't fly until late tomorrow night.

No wake up call tomorrow (yay), a lie in (yaaaaaay), then we plan to get the bus to Manhattan Beach for a chilled out afternoon of doing nothing.
