From the dark corner.....

The time has come...

Today was an interesting day for so many reasons. I have found it really hard to concentrate on work knowing that in my other home, as that is what it is, a vote was taking place that will change things forever. I won't get heavy about it as whatever will be will be and no, that isn't cue for a song.

Mom rang me to tell me that she'd been to her polling place at 7:10am this morning and she was the third one in apparently. She put her tick in the box (that counts, I'm told) and then had a lovely quiet walk around Ayr on a beautiful day.

Listening to reports on the radio and seeing other people's blips as the day wore on, I found myself wishing I was a poll clerk up there. There would be no chance of falling asleep with the huge turnout!

Once, as a poll clerk, I was given an address by an unsmiling man and I checked the electoral roll listing as usual. The hardest thing I ever had to do, even to this day, was keep a straight face while I handed a folded voting slip to the man, with the immortal words 'Are you Tarzan?' I was so glad my name wasn't Jane. That was twenty years ago and it still sticks in my mind now. Oh how we laughed after he'd left!

At this stage, I must apologise to anyone reading this who is named Tarzan.

Today, I admired people's Twitter avatars, changed to reflect this special occasion. In my attempt to be neutral but in a Scottish way, I am using a saltire tea towel and am wearing tartan knickers.

At this stage, I must apologise to anyone reading this who are still having their dinner.

There isn't much other news to tell you. My picture is of a first time visitor to the garden! Thanks go to Ann who told me it was a Nuthatch when I sent her a picture on Twitter! He was around much of the day trying everything on offer but liked the sunflower seeds best.

Go large!

I also got a ticket to see Don McLean in the third row of Brum Symphony Hall in May. It will be the fourth time I'll have seen him and I'm really pleased!

Track? I dedicate this sentimental but beautiful song to Scotland. Real love never dies and my heart is up there forever regardless of the result of this historic referendum - And I Love You So
