Scotland, oh Mighty Scotland
The day before the biggest day in Scotland's history, a wee group of us - two exiled Scots and an Englishman - had the best biking day of our lives travelling round the West Coast.
The weather was perfect, the bikes were awesome, and the company was just great fun, but the star of the day has to have been Scotland herself.
We drove from Spean Bridge through Invergarry, along the road to Kyle of Lochalash, then up to Loch Carron then through the mighty buttresses of the mountains on the way to Apple Cross, to marvel at the view of Skye basking in the cloudless heat.
Then it was on round the peninsula (at quite a brisk pace it must be said) to Shieldaig, through Torridon, then onto Kinlochewe, then onto Gairloch, and Poolewe - then finally as far north as we went - to Ullapool for some ice cream.
Then we had a mad dash back down to Inverness and the mist and cloud to Grantown-On-Spey to a very welcome meal at Craig's Bar, then home to a cosy and warm Bed and Breakfast.
This was an EPIC journey. The scenery was quite simply breathtaking. Every rise brought a new vista to marvel at, and I was giggling insanely inside my helmet at both the adrenalin pumping joy of driving at some speed along some stunning roads, and at the completely jaw-droppingly majestic and beautiful scenery revealed before me.
Who knows what will happen tomorrow... but EVERYONE should be able to share in this wondrous country. EVERYONE should see this beauty and stand in awe.
Come and visit - you might not see it at the breakneck speed we did, but it will still blow your mind!
