last blast of summer

So Summer edges towards autumn. It may not seem so for us, but the insects are showing changes. Less flowers mean less insects that rely on them, so the meadows are no longer buzzing as they were. The woods are still full of Speckled Wood butterflies, and this Green veined White is one of the other abundant species at the moment (#8 in this years' Butterfly Conservation Big Butterfly count, although numbers are down on last year).
