Over the counter culture
This is Ivy exploring our local art gallery. The current exhibition is called 'over the counter culture' and is about Scottish identity (at least I think it is...) Ivy particullarly enjoyed a little room where they were showing a film called 'the lion the unicorn and the queen'. She kept applauding. We popped in after a trip to the polling station this morning, because I thought we should make something of the occasion.
She's still loving the fluff chrochet square she begged from Katy yesterday.
Outside the gallery Ivy was chatting to a small dog (she took a little bit of convincing that it was an 'ooof' and not a 'cAT!') but when it came to close to her, she got frightened and clung to me. When the dog got bored and went to lie down, Ivy marched up to it, stood about a meter away and waggled her finger at the poor dog whilst scolding him. I can only assume she was saying something along the lines of 'that's right you run away!'
Ivy didn't want to eat her porridge this morning (cooked overnight in the slow cooker) so was then too hungry for a morning nap, so she only had a really short one in the end. I got her to eat more porridge when we both got up, by giving us one bowl between us and letting her feed herself with a spoon (which I sent her to fetch herself, she looked confussed for a moment but then toddled off and came back clutching a spoon and pointed to her chair). I think she ate more from the bowl than I did. At one point I asked her if she was eating or playing and she thought for a bit then repeated 'pla-in'. I took the bowl off her whenever she was just messing about, at which point she would shove the spoon in her mouth to show that she was eating... honest!
I needed a shower before we could go out, so Ivy got an improtude bath where she made up her mind about her poltical leanings (turns out she's an anarchist)
Having skipped most of her morning nap, she was techy and tired long before lunch time, so I made her scrambled eggs and put her to bed after she fell asleep whilst nursing. I even managed to get her into her sleepign bag without waking her up. Unforntulatly, she didn't stay asleep very long and was extremly grumpy in the afternoon. I gave her a bannana to cheer her up temporarily (she now points to the cupboard where we moved them too) and then thankfully Tim arrived to drop off Ivy's cup we'd left with them and that distracted her for a bit too (she fed him grapes). When Euan came home, he and Ivy explored the garden whilst I made curry in the pressure cooker.
Ivy was very touchy and easy to upset due to being so tired. She howled about being taken out of the bath and refused to have her teeth brushed. The only way to get her to eat her dinner, was to sit her on my knee and let her use her spoon in my bowl- but once she got into it, she did seem to enjoy the curry. She wouldn't let us brush her teeth tonight- so I wonder if her gums are sore.
She managed to slot a block into a shape stacking toy earlier, so Euan and I both applauded her, she loved that but wasn't exactly sure on what she'd done to achieve it. She took the block and put it near where it should go, but without slotting it in, then looked at us both and clapped her own hands together loudly, I think she thought we'd forgotten.
Euan's out all night tonight on the radio doing a programme as the results of the referendum come in. I'm hoping for a not too awful night with Ivy. She's already woken up once since he left.
