The view from the swimming beach

We awoke to the first rain for about three weeks and it's continued being steamy and mizzly all day with the promise of something a bit more thunderous later on tonight. Nonetheless I have striven in the garden all day. A bit of rain and everything has sperked up or flopped and every where looks pretty bosky. I have cut back two huge gunnera plants - an annual event! . They're not frost hardy so you have to cut them right back and cover them with their own leaves and leave them to sleep off the winter. Quite a good idea. We continue to clear montbretia and nettle roots in our new mini orchard - back breaking work.

It was mizzling but warm so I decided to swim watched on by a couple of oyster catchers. Flat calm and a strange light. Bracing but good.
