Sadie's stall
Here's a joyful image that says everything to me about handing over the reins to the next generation. This is Sadie - my friends' 2nd daughter behind her first ever stall, selling homemade sweet treats at the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival. She didn't tell her parents she was even doing it until yesterday when I arrived because she wanted it to be a surprise, bless her.
Once the surprise was out of the bag we all realised how much more needed to be done so we delayed our Lakes departure until this eve, to help her set up her stall of delicious macaroons, chocolate buttons and marshmallows.
Unfortunately those cunning plans were stymied by a careless driver who rammed into the back of us when were driving to Sefton Park loaded to the gunnels with stall goodies.
Everyone is basically okay but while the boys went to the hossie to be checked out (can you tell I'm in Liverpool) Lizzy rescued me at the roadside on her shiny white steed in her little red Fiesta and we hurtled drove carefully to the park.
We got Sarah's stall set up in 15 minutes and smiled and reassured her so she didn't panic at the thought of her dad and boyfriend in hospital when the show opened. Then we stood back and watched her hard work come together for a first successful evening which included her boyfriend coming back from the hospital smiling (through the drugs) and her first ever wholesale deal to a local cheesecake legend whose name I forget. Brilliant; proud unGodmother here :-)
And now stiffness abounds but Lizzy's given me a massage, I'm tucked up in bed and all that matters is that everyone's hopefully okay. Nick's been kept in (recent op) but it looks like he'll be out in the morn. So fingers crossed. The Lakes can wait. Go Sadie!
