at home with an Ivysaurus

The gelato conflict:

'I want it so much, but it's just so cold!'

We went to the living food festival today in Cawdor castle. Gave a lift to a hitchicker who was from the Czechrepublic and was working in the ever so glamourous Gave. He wasintrequed by the food festival, so we took him all the way there instead of dropping him in Ness.

Ivy had a great time running about in the grounds, examining lichen and persauding other children to play with her. She spotted another little baby, and went all the way round a picnic bench to go say hello. Lots of lovely free samples of things such as venison chirzo and hot smoked salmon. I didn't like the seaweed and grapefruit dip. I had a hog roast roll for lunch (with crackling) and Euan had a venison burger. Ivy threated a piece of pork like chewing gum, even holding it in her mouth through a breastfeed in the cloth nappy tent. She did INHALE a pouch of baby food though. We brought home a very pretty harlequin squash Ivy can have for her lunch tomorrow.

It was my birthday today, so Euan made eggs bendict (with smoked salmon) for my breakfast. Ivy watched me drink my coffee and then went off to find something to 'dunk'- she came back with the battery cover off the remote control and stole ALL my foam- so we made her own cup of frothy milk. Might start foaming extra milk in the morning to give her some- altough we might end up with a three year old who'll say 'I can't do anything without my morning coffee'.

As a present Euan got me a bottle of Aperol (we had spritz' with our dinner using a teeny tiny bottle of proseco we picked up at the food festival) and a graphic novel that has a woman breatfeeding on the front- because i'm obsessed. Ruth the music teacher came round and brought me some bruschette, some flowers and a very funny card.

Ivy played in the park before dinner and was very confussed when a littleboy arrived and didn't want to play with her- she's so used to everyone falling over to play with her.

Euan was charged with the task of taking 'a nice photo' of Ivy and I today so I can have one every birthday. Here are the ones I like best:

1, 2, 3, 4

I'd like to point out Ivy put the coleslaw on her own head, after trying to use my dinner plate as a hat. Coleslaw came from a cabbage in the garden, which was a very cute teeny tiny cabbage, variety 'micro'
