Got my ticket - missed the train!

Don't you love technology? Today was the last mainline steam train of the year and the time coincided with high tide so I had to think a bit about where the best place would be to get it. I decided to go down to the Passage House Inn where there's a bridge with a viewpoint from below. I got there in plenty of time and checked the viewpoint from both sides and decided where to be. I tested the exposure then sat down and waited. The sky was beautiful, crepuscular rays and a steam train? What more could one want.

Although this looks a peaceful spot, the A380 runs over a bridge directly behind me so it's a job to hear the train coming. i got a few seconds notice, and stood up, aimed for my sighting spot and pressed the 'Go' button.

You might remember from my previous train blip that I said you only get 8 seconds shooting, well what happens if your expensive DSLR decides it's not quite ready to do what you want it to do for 8 seconds? You miss your train, that's what!

Ah well, it looks quite pretty, doesn't it? Just imagine how nice it would look with a train with the smokestack belcihng steam right there on the bridge.
