Peakeen Loop
A bright, clear and windless day. We decided to tackle perhaps the toughest loop walk on the Sheep's Head Peninsula. There's a longer one but this loop comes with warnings about 'experienced walkers only' - well that's us!
A spectacular journey along the main ridge, down and across to Cahergal on the north side negotiating steep valleys and slippery descents and then back to 'Finn McCool's Seat' at the top of the Goat's Path via the 'Horseshoe Road' which lives up to it's name it's easy going underfoot but the last ascent is a killer.
This is looking eastwards along the top of the peninsular with Bantry Bay on the left and Dunmanus Bay on the right.
