The Wild Wild West

Bath

A lazy Sunday trip to Bath. Despite living not far, despite having spent eighteen months living there and despite working half an hour away, it's not a place I visit often. And given the traffic jams today (half-marathon on a football day, really? You think that's a good idea? Might as well throw in car-free Sunday whilst you are at it and close the ENTIRE city! Of course, now, that's what you want you silly red-trousered man. No cars, who needs cars eh?) we might never have made it there at all.

A bit of trawling the shops to find a coat/jacket (fail), a not-very-good tearoom followed by a walk along the towpath. Flowers along the towpath serve as a reminder to hapless students that walking along the towpath after a few drinks isn't a good idea, as yet another person lost their life just life week having gone missing on a night out. Then got the fright of our lives as a small boy on a bicycle attempted to pass riverside, got caught in a handbag strap and ONLY JUST stopped with his front wheel perilously teetering on the edge of the towpath. I don't think the kid realised just how close he came to being very cold, very wet and very frightened.

Found a very excellent and comfortable pub for a glass of wine to wind down, and only just managed to tear ourselves away from sinking ever deeper into the comfy seats and make it back home again
