Sunday Sunset
There are 16 of us as passangers on the gullet. One of the characters is called Ray who is with his with his wife called Liz, and they are from Essex. Ray is quite stocky, 5'6", covered in tattoos and chain smokes like his wife. He's 50 but looks in his 60's. He's the manger of a gearbox/clutch replacement centre. He doesn't talk a lot and when he does he doesn't mix his words. We haven't a lot in common but I quite like him.
Yesterday, his wife mentioned it would be nice to keep in touch with the rest of us. She's quite chatty and I like her too. As she said this, I over heard him say to her there was no point as they wouldn't be seeing any of us again!
When we docked she got off and had her toe nails painted. She wasn't happy with the job done and had been over charged. She went and bought some nail polish to re-do them herself and was back on board telling us the story. Ray was on his laptop, listening to yet another movie. After, cursing her attempts at doing her own nails, Ray slammed the top of his laptop down and said "right, that's it, let's get them professionally done". He threw the nail polish she bought in to the sea!
A good hour or two later they returned and she'd had her hair done and all her nails, She was happy. It was a case of Essex man showing his love for his wife. Quite touching I thought. I may not see them again, bit will remember them, that's for sure!
The blip photo is the Sunday sunset over Marmaris. The sun may have gone down over our week sailing but it'll live on in the memory. Nice people. Not all my cup of tea but I probably wasn't their's either.
A case of every day is different, which is a good thing.
