Monselgues Croix

The morning started with a load of s**t literally as our builder friend arrived with a load of manure from a neighbouring farmer. Logs had to be moved but then it was safely delivered and very ripe it smelt. Having moved the logs, they were then cut up and put into store for a winter's day.
The weather was right for a walk so we headed up to the plateau near Monselgues to keep it fairly flat. A 15 km trek through the pine forest ensued enlivened by the odd break in the trees and panaromic views down to various valleys. This cross caught the attention next to an old farm called l'Espinas. One imagines the cross mounted on a huge boulder and an old millstone could tell many stories of those who have passed it over the years. Sadly the internet could give me nothing on its history.
On our return the road-mending fairy had been and placed a load of earth on our track which is now better than it ever has been. No idea who!
