Potty, flight and swamp

After three weeks of uneventful potty training, Audrey chose this morning at 5am with a taxi booked and a flight to Ibiza to catch to do her first wee in the potty! That's my girl! We were laughing our heads off. What were the chances of that!?!

I have been dreading today for weeks. I was so worried about taking Audrey abroad but it actually went better than expected. Had lots of tips from people so arrived very prepared and it paid off. She had games, new toys, an iPad (which bizarrely she never used and now has stopped working altogether - uh oh!) and she even managed to sleep. Eventually.

Angus seemed to think he was taking a normal flight (pre kids) and brought his novel with him which I had to guffaw at when he brought it out. He settled back in his seat and starting reading and I gave him the "are you kidding me?" look. It was soon put away in favour of helping me entertain Audrey.

We've never hired a car abroad before and I'm not sure I'd be tempted to again after the debacle we went through. Courtesy buses to industrial estates to wait outside a portashed for ages and finally a car. We then got stuck in Island traffic (it's raining in Ibiza so the island's roads are gridlocked). We were pretty fraught when we arrived.

Luckily the hotel is lovely if a little water-sodden so it was nice to settle in our room.

We were all shattered so wanted to eat locally. The hotel owner told us a short cut through some wasteland to get to the marina. It was a disaster a it was a swamp of mud. Angus absolutely lost it sliding around in his flip flops and having a strop. It was like something from a sketch and I was in fits of giggles behind him!

Spaghetti bolognese for three, red wine, beer and tiramisu put a smile back on our faces. Audrey loved seeing the sea and seemed to really appreciate it this time (see pic). I can see that memories are being formed in her head and that is after all what holidays are about!
