Slow Boat

As summer has returned and the sky is clear we decided it would be a nice day to take a slow boat to Como. Strangely enough it is the first time we have taken a slow boat from Lenno to Como, though we have gone on the hydrofoil once or twice.

The boat was pretty crowed but fairly soon we got a good seat. The sky was very clear without the slight haze we get sometimes. It was nice to go down the lake and admire the villas which normally we cannot see from the road.

The villa in the photograph is the Villa Balbianello, this is in Lenno and is open to the public. Until his death it was owned by a wealthy explorer and adventurer. In his will he left it to a charitable organisation, together with a trust fund to pay for its upkeep. The Villa features in the James Bond film "Casino Royale" and has also been seen in several other films.

Returned to Lenno late afternoon, but on a very busy bus this time.
