Bye Bye Birdie

Bertie alerted me to something odd going on in the garden by barking manically for about 20minutes. I went out to find him yapping at this poor little fella, huffing and puffing under a tree. I got dogs and cat back into the house then went back to try and get a closer look at him. He was in a bad way with a gash in his neck, surrounded by flies and breathing heavily.

I kept going to look at him but he was obviously not long for this world and eventually slipped off to the big bird house in the sky.

I'd like to say that I gave him a dignified send off but Lily got there first and...well...I'll leave the rest to your imagination.
