Woodland Scenery

Not marked on maps as such, this is an enclosed west facing corner of Marlowes Wood, near Berkswell, Warwickshire, collecting the last rays of evening sunshine. One of a handful of remaining pockets from the famous Forest of Arden. The wood contains a heronry. Suggestions for tunneling under this and adjacent, ancient woodland have been poo-poohed. They say that ploughing HS2 right through it would save a few bob.
