Glacier Hike!

The weather looked good this morning but as we got to the base for the glacier trip they were cautious as it was changeable and they were expecting low cloud. After a wait of over an hour they started to move and we were lucky enough to be put on the second trip of the day. As it turned out, only three trips made it before the cloud came down so we were really lucky! We did feel sorry for those who hadn't made it.

What a great day!!! It began with a short helicopter ride up to the glacier ... our first helicopter ride and we loved it. Then a three hour hike with our great guide, Rob, in a small group around the glacier which was just amazing. Then a short heli ride back down to the base.

The sun was shining when we got back so we went for a few beers with the guys from the glacier centre then back to the hot pools again before dinner and bed ... AMAZING! Took loads of pics, none of which did it justice so just had to pick one.

Stayed overnight a Lake Maporika DOC site just out of town.
