Unexpected Fruits

We had given up up on the tomatoes at the end of the garden on account of the fact that we had been away for a good deal of August when the weather was at it's hottest and the garden was most in need of water. When we got back the tomato plants were looking less than healthy and the few tomatoes on them decidedly green, so we left them as they were. As it turns out the unseasonally warm weather has brought out a trench* of late ripening fruits that were ready to go.

*is that what I mean? trenche, trench... hmm.
