Dragonfly

Mrs W wasn’t working today so we decided to go out for lunch and our chosen destination was Wrest Park, a local English Heritage property and gardens. As we wandered around one of the lakes, we saw loads of dragonflies, many of which were landing close to us.

This one was very obliging and stayed close as I got closer and closer. Loads of shots were discarded as focusing was really difficult but quite a few turned out quite well and this one I liked because of the sheen off the wings on the far side. Some of the other shots showed how sheer the wings are but would not otherwise have been a particularly interesting photograph.

Anyway, we had a lovely lunch and a relaxing walk around the grounds until my bladder decided that we needed to return to the main block at a slightly more brisk pace. Of course we had to be at the furthest part of the grounds from my desired destination so it was a tense few minutes. Thankfully no embarrassment.
