Globe artichoke flower head

Great day in London with “the Girls” (former work colleagues). We meet up every 3 months or so and do something new. Today’s visit was to the Chelsea Physic Garden, founded in 1673 by the Society of Apothecaries so that their apprentices could learn to grow medicinal plants and study their uses.

It is on a relatively small site near the Embankment. They provide guided tours which are invaluable as there is so much information about all the plants. I discovered that one of the plants in our garden that B blipped this week is highly toxic!! It will be treated with care or possibly removed.

Before to garden visit I met up with one of the girls and visit the Saatchi Gallery to see the photographic exhibition by Sam Taylor-Johnson which featured 34 photographs of the private rooms of Coco Chanel in Paris and an interview with her about 50yrs ago. Having read the biography about mademoiselle Chanel recently it was fascinating.

On the way back to Liverpool St Station to catch the train, I had a quick visit to the Tower of London to see the poppies. A jam packed day!!
