Silver Birch

It's a fine day today. Not so much wind and the sun is nice and bright. My Silver Birch is being felled next week and so I took advantage of the weather to get a good shot of it before it goes. A friend gave it to me twenty years ago when it was on 24 inches high. We never imagined it would grow so big - most of those you see on the side of the road out in the country are rather spindly looking and don't grow very high. I believe this one was sold as a Swedish Birch - maybe they grow bigger than Scottish ones?
