CASTLE CLASS

This weekend is the Autumn Steam Gala at the North York Moors Railway - NYMR.
A grand day out today with Blipper Annamaria. This view shows the locomotive 5029 Nunney Castle approaching Darnholm, near Goathland.
This 4-6-0 steam locomotive is a member of the Great Western Railway 4073 Castle Class. Built in 1934 to pull fast express passenger trains, it was withdrawn from normal service in 1963.
During the first day of the World War II Evacuations the locomotive hauled trains carrying children being taken from London to the safety of the countryside.

Now preserved it is a guest locomotive on the NYMR for this weekend only.
