Palace of the Papes at Avignon.

In the 14th century things were a bit hot in Rome so the Papacy moved to Avignon for about 70 years. Not wanting to stint themselves they built this impressive fortress and palace. It's very much as it was. Good to sit in the sun with a coffee admiring the palace and the square where there was a golden human statue.
