Playing with Trains in #Littletown
Another fantastic warm and sunny day, and I decided to mix business with pleasure and take a trip out to the Spen Valley Model Engineers Club to see their miniature railway in, aptly-named, "Littletown".
The club, which delights both big and little children alike, are planning to expand their track over adjacent land. I needed to call in, pick up some papers and check the proposals. What better way to do it than during one of their open days?
The place was buzzing with children, parents, grandparents and engine drivers. The cafe was open and the teapot and the locomotives were steaming away all afternoon.
The loco here is called Sweet Bee and is expertly driven by Mike.
I managed to force myself to visit the club's on-site station buffet where I bumped into Peter, an old colleague from my days in Health and Safety regulation. We had a good catch-up, sat out in the sun drinking tea and eating chocolate biscuits and ice cream. Peter challenged me to have a ride on one of the miniature trains. It was just the excuse I needed.
A splendid afternoon.
