Gaiety Girl
This is a plaster cast of the original Gaiety Girl keystone at the center of a very ornate proscenium arch that surrounded the stage opening of the old Gaiety Theatre on Washington Street in Boston. The building was demolished in 2005 to make room for a new apartment building known as The Kensington. To honour the 1908 theatre that had stood there before the new construction, the Gaiety Girl was placed in a window box exhibit at the entrance to The Kensington. Here you can see her gazing out at the buildings across Washington Street that are reflected in her window.
