Day 47: Welcome to Saigon
After a nice, warm bowl of Pho (beef noodle soup), we met our tour group to explore the Mekong Delta region. Our tour guide gave us a brief history and other facts about Ho Chi Minh, former Saigon, and even told jokes to entertain us for our 2 hr drive.
Like a well-orchestrated show, we were smoothly shuttled from place to place via bus, paddle boat, motor boat, long boat, and even horse-drawn carriage. We tasted local fruits, witnessed the making of coconut candy, held a snake, tasted bee pollen tea, saw an orchid garden, and had an authentic local meal, complete with freshly fried Elephant Ear fish.
We ended the evening with a foot massage and dinner/drinks overlooking Saigon, 52 stories above. Not a bad way to be welcomed to the city :)
