No. 168: Red-backed Shrike

After the Great Grey Shrike Adventure, I forswore twitching, but as this rare and beautiful bird (more info here) had been reported daily since our arrival only a shortish distance away in Lowestoft, in fact at Ness Point, the most Easterly point in the country, we couldn't resist a trip up there. I was prepared for disappointment, but happily the bird was still there, and showing well, as Shrike are prone to do. This one is apparently a first winter bird and delighted us with some excellent views and insect-catching antics. The weather has been glorious too, so a lovely day out. Well worth the twitch!
