Baystone Bridge, Itchingfield

A really hectic day after the very successful school open evening. It was though, like yesterday, extremely productive and we got an awful lot done (except I have a washing up mountain!). I remained in a productive enough state to do some gardening when I got home before it rains at the weekend! This meant I did not have much time to do a picture so stopped off here to take this shot.

This was where during the summer holidays, my friend Matt and I did a walk along the route of the Horsham to Guildford railway line which opened in 1865 and closed almost exactly 100 years later in June 1965. We started from this bridge and walked the short distance to Christ's Hospital Station. This view is looking up the trackbed towards Slinfold. On the right is a grassed over field that was used as an amenity tip and I can remember going there as a child with Dad to take stuff to the dump! Some of the cutting between Baystone Bridge and the next one where the A264 crosses was used for dumping rubbish as well I think, as the cutting has been filled in with the footpath on top.
