Archaeology
After work I went to a rather depressing place near where I live where there has been an archaeological dig in advance of yet more housebuilding. Virtually all archaeology today is rescue stuff where a dig will take place on a site that is about to be developed. This is always good that an investigation is taking place, but when the development is unecessary and unwanted as here, it makes for a depressing site. Having been tipped off about it I felt I ought to have a look before it goes. I have deliberately avaoided this area as it is not a pleasant place to be. It's really time the UK got a grip on housebuilding and stopped pursuing the eternal God of money all the time and started to think and plan for the future instead of short term gain.
I believe this is actually a Roman farm, but know no more than this.
