Wobbly tractor Drivers
Whenever I did any field work, I was judged by how straight I could drive a tractor. I would have done better out here than at home. I love the way the farmers here grow their maize in curves. It adds interest and patterns to the land. I'm sure that's not why they plant in curves.
This is also Amish country. Down below we saw horse drawn buggies, carts, even a horse drawn slurry tanker with 5 horses abreast. A simple way of life and yet despite shunning labour saving technology they manage to run their enterprises successfully in one of the most technological advanced nations of the world.
Meanwhile we thunder overhead in one of the most advanced pieces of human engineering and yet I admire the simplicity of the lives below
