Poppies at the Tower
Yet another family funeral today, this time my Aunt Mary, my Dad's sister. She died four days after my Dad. (I've got to say the last three weeks have been horrible.)
It was a lovely service in a huge old church in East London, very different from my Dad's. Unfortunately I'd already seen most of my cousins earlier in the week but it was still nice to catch up with a couple of other cousins I hadn't seen for a while.
It's the end of an era really as every Christmas we all used to congregate at my Aunt's flat. We're going try and keep it going but perhaps move it to the summer and take it in turns to host it.
Afterwards Mr M and I headed for the Tower of London to see the ceramic poppies in the moat. By 11th November there will be 888,246 poppies representing the fatalities of the First World War. After that they are going to be sold off to raise money for six armed forces charities.
