Driving to Baker

Mt. Baker on a crisp, clear day is as photogenic a site as one could hope for (next to Mt. Rainier). But when we ventured up to Baker today, it was far from picture-perfect. The cloud cover was thick and low, there was a steady drizzle that quickly created a mist on my glasses, and my camera's lens.

Despite the weather, there was no hiding the beauty of Baker with its barren terrain of black lava rock sparsely coated with an incredible palette of colorful vegetation. And if you watched carefully, you would catch a brief glimpse of the mountain when there was a break in the clouds.
