Kayaking at Stoever's

Yesterday we went kayaking at Stoever's Dam in Lebanon. We love to go there because they have picnic tables and fire pits. I wasn’t sure that kayaking was such a good idea because it was really cold! But then I remembered that the water would still be warmer than the air at this time of the year, and when we got out on the lake I realized that this was true and it wasn’t so bad. However, since it is getting colder, this was possibly our last time going out for the year, which stinks because I really love kayaking. It’s just a little hard to do when there’s three inches of ice on top of the water, I guess. But I do think it would be fun to slide around, maybe I’ll try it sometime. (If they tell you I died under suspicious conditions, this is probably what happened). At Stoever’s there’s also a trail that you can walk around the lake, and it goes through the woods. The leaves are starting to fall, so when we walked the trail, we could hear them crunching underneath our feet, which you might remember from my list of 21 Reasons Autumn is My Favorite Season, is one of my favorite sounds. It was a crisp night, but I was glad for it. We had a warm fire going and lots of hot tea (of course). So even though the season is coming to a close, I really do hope we can go kayaking at least one more time this year.
