Sao Tome and Principe was the first African country to cultivate cocoa, and these islands became known as the "Chocolate Islands". Today a third of the island is still covered in cocoa trees "cacaoeiros". At the turn of the 20th century, Sao Tome was the world's biggest producer of cocoa.
Today we headed off on a very exciting trip, to walk along the Equator. En route we passed these workers, harvesting cocoa pods.
