Scallop

I see images of the Kelpies at Falkirk all the time on blip but less often this wonderful sculpture on Aldeburgh beach by Maggi Hambling - a tribute to Benjamin Britten. And yet if you stand and watch in for even a few minutes, so many people come and photograph it.
The challenge in photographing such an iconic sculpture is not just doing it justice, but trying for a new perspective, and this is not so easy with this one as it it so clearly intended to be viewed from this angle, looking out to sea. I was lucky to have such wonderful light for this shot, as after the torrential rain of earlier in the day, the late afternoon sunshine was luminous and the air clear and sharp.
