Morning Mists
The forecast for today was persistent rain all over The Lakes for the final day of my LPH Holiday. Never the less, we set off the the central lakes area, heading to an old slate mining quarry.
The weather when we set off was dry and calm, and the most wonderful mists developed over the fells between Keswick and Ambleside. So our first stop of the day took place in a convenient layby, where this shot was taken.
Stop 2 was at Thirlemere by the pumping station for more wonderful light on the the surround fells (and just a few odd drops of rain)
Stop 3 at Yew Tree Tarn favoured us with some beautifully still waters and reflections (still no rain to speak of!)
We finally arrived at our original destination, in time for lunch before some cave photography and a wander around the slate workings now intermingled with beech trees with white barks in their yellow autumn hues. The rain eventually came, so we decamped to the pub at Elterwater, by which time the rain had stopped allowing us to take a final walk along the beck, before having a swift pint and heading back to LPH.
We were now all shattered after a great week of photography. As for that forecast rain, apparently it fell over Braithewaite all day!!
