The SPIDER HOUSE - Surviving Tragedy

A few historic buildings remain on Jericho Road,
Grand Lake’s original Main Street.
None as notorious as the Spider House.
Known for its intriguing web design and
For a sad, sad tragedy.

The house sits beneath crooked Lodgepole Pines
,That block much of the sunshine that caresses the other homes.

Designed and built by Warren Gregg, to cheer his wife Mary, who suffered from depression.Haunted by the loss of her newborn little boy. Who died during their arduous trip to Colorado by Prairie Schooner

The winter of 1904 was especially harsh and difficult for Mary, who was frequently alone. With only the company of her children and the howling wind.

One bleak afternoon, her dark thoughts turned black. She grabbed a gun and killed her four children (1 girl, 3 boys). Then turned the gun on herself. Only Lloyd, who was away with his father, survived.

Now I’ve been in this house, and toured it with the current owner.A man who loves its rustic appeal.
Was he worried about ghosts?
No, but he did bless the house with burning white sage to rid it of any negative energy.

As for Me:
I’ve never felt anything sinister or negative about Spider House, and I’m one who picks up on bad vibes others don’t feel. If ever a house should be haunted, you’d think this would be the one. I believe Mary loved her children and they knew it. A broken moment did not destroy the child/mother bond. So no reason for the house to be haunted. Just my theory.

I’ve tried capturing the Spider House over the years.Today, the light hit her just perfectly - showing her darkeness and her light.
