CRABAPPLE :
At the beginning my biggest sin was to plant the trees & shrubs far to close together. As they grow & mature, they're crowding each other out; it happened with C. Miss Tulare, & it is the same with this crabapple, Malus Kaitoke, a N. Z. hybrid. It has been forced to grow quite tall & is truly lovely with every weeping branch clothed in a mass of crimson flowers; BUT is so hemmed in, you hardly notice. If I had my time over again, I'd be more ruthless with the spacing. When you're making a garden it is hard to visualise how tall & how quickly trees & shrubs can grow - but they do ! This blip is to record the Malus in my journal.
