Wondering if all this snow will melt
A view from Hämeenpuisto esplanade, Tampere. We had a lovely February sun today, and the whole machinery for clearing the streets was in full use.
The man in the middle is sunning himself on a park bench. On the far left is the unfocused figure of the statue of Finnish writer and social activist Minna Canth (1844-1897). Her statue is about 3 metres in height, so the snow bank on the opposite side of the walkway could almost cover it!
The usual sites for dumping snow are full, so there are a lot of these small mountains even in the city centre. If they're not levelled down and transported somewhere, we may have drifts of remaining snow even in May.
