Growing your own figs

Although sadly no advice for you on how to grow this beautiful fruit, always wonderful to see. The best figs we have tasted were in S Italy on one of the islands, the paper bag was oozing with juice and had to be eaten on the street.

Sunday
A good night, some rain with a sunny cloudy morning. We spent some time yesterday unsuccessfully looking for a France Passion site. The directions given by the owner are vague. We pay about £25.00 a year to subscribe to system called France Passion and with it comes a book with co ordinates and brief description from the nearest village to the farm, vineyard, auberge etc - we now see that our sat nav is out of date with the style of co ordinates used in the book this year therefore making it a challenge sometimes. The farm etc is willing to allow anything from 1 - 5 camping cars to stay overnight for no payment, there are no facilities and only suitable for CC but usually they will have something to sell, our favourite places are cheese farms and vineyards. It brings the tourist and producer together, an excellent system. In the France Passion book the producer is allowed a few words to describe how to find their place. Some are very good at doing this, others, we feel, don't look at the map when leaving a description. It's great system with the occasional hiccup.

We are visiting friends who have lived in the Charente M for some years, we like to say hello when in the area - as you do - and catch up on the last 18 months.
