Charente Maritime

Saturday 11th October
Washed hair in cold water. A dash up the motorway passing Bordeaux and aiming for the Charente Maritime, over the famous River Gironde and onto flat farm land and vineyards. A good lunch in the Intermarche supermarket - nothing like the fare at Tesco's - and we are now parked in the grounds of large house that has lived in better times. Very sad to see. However the outbuildings are converted into a restaurant, jazz club and somewhere on the site they make wine including Pineau.
