Those were the days, my friend

Coming up for midnight, after a hard day at the computer, and the only photos I had taken today were failed attempts to capture a smiling image of our younger daughter during a Skype conversation. So casting a wild eye around before diving into bed, I spotted this portrait of my brother and I, taken a few thousand years ago. The most notable feature is the smocking, done by my mother - she did some fantastic work, and also made her own and our clothes, including superb evening dresses from Vogue patterns. All this as well as being a pretty nifty golfer and a great cook. Those were indeed the days...
