Family Time

Yesterday was the anniversary of my Papa’s death, and like we do every year at this time, we had a family dinner. We actually have family dinners a lot. More than you would expect, because most of my family lives about 45 minutes away, in Lebanon. But, despite this, we try to go down at least once a week, sometimes more. So last night we grabbed some board games and headed south, towards my aunt’s house, which is where dinner was this time. Now let me just say this and get it out of the way: my family is slightly crazy. Now I know that a lot of people say that their family is crazy, but I’m serious. Things just seem to happen to us, especially my Aunt Kim. She’s gotten stuck in the sunroof of her car before, and she somehow locked herself in her trunk. This might seem hard, but the fact that she’s only 4’11” might have something to do with it. My grandma, well if you see her on game day you’ll understand. She’s a die-hard Steeler’s fan, and whenever they have a big game, she dresses up. She paints her face and wears a wig and has pompoms and everything. She’s even gone to the store like that before. So last night we all had dinner together gathered around my uncle’s table. After that we played a game called Three for All, which we just got. It was fun and of course got very loud, very quickly. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that I know my family is crazy, but I love them anyways. Maybe I even love them more because of it. Like my cousin, Devin, once said, “we can be a little insane, but a normal family would just be so boring.”
