Undaunted
A back-blip. An evening with two fascinating people, Susan and her dear friend Jon, who clearly enjoy and admire each other. If she looks familiar, it's because I've blipped her before. Susan is a member of the meditating community (Sangha) I am pleased to belong to, and while Susan has MS and has had to cope with increasing challenges to her mobility, she offers yoga classes for people at all levels of fitness, and she’s adept and inspiring as a teacher. She also writes vividly about yoga and MS. Here’s an example:
“Yoga is not about attaining the buff and svelte body I so envied when I first took a class. It asks what your body, just as it is, can do today.... It feels liberating to exercise with people who have various limitations, but who are undaunted by them.”
--Susan Dobrof, in “MS, Yoga, and Me” in Inside MS, a publication of the National MS Society.
Jon is also inspiring. He rejects conventional ways of living and has carved out a unique and courageous way of living off the grid. He visits Susan several times a year but spends much of his time out in the desert in a place very like the one described in this video.
