Burned Out

As commentaries go, this one is a couple of days late as last Friday, Mrs W and I went to buy a new cooker. I have been promising her a new cooker for over a year but events have somewhat overtaken us and we hadn’t got round to it. Our current cooker, which we inherited with the house, is a range style one, as is the one we’ve bought and of course the benefit is that there are multiple burners and ovens and plenty of room.

The thing is, this particular burner has been out of action for about three years and, despite numerous cleaning processes, it still seems to be dirty. How on earth does that happen?

Ridiculously, we thought we’d have to replace it a couple of years ago as the clock stopped working. You may think that that is hardly a disaster but without the clock working, neither of the two main gas ovens would light as they were directly linked to the clock to allow for timed cooking. On that occasion, asI couldn’t find anyone interested in repairing the cooker, I found advice on the internet to describe how to bypass the clock and therefore brought the ovens back into action.
